Ali’s Race For Life

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Hello Peeps I need your help!

My mate Janet challenged me to join her in this year’s Race For Life back in February, and rather stupidly I accepted. How hard can it be? I thought, coming from the girl who, let’s face it, only goes to the gym for a sauna. I’ve never run in my life! In fact, I was always the one at school hitching a lift from sixth-form boys in cars to come and whisk me away from the horrors of cross-country… You can see my dilemma.

And so, as Wednesday 7th May looms ever closer (I don’t even own a pair of trainers. Can you run in Converse hi-tops?) I’m asking that you might take pity on a damsel in distress and sponsor me. It’s all in aid of Cancer Research, and they’ve made it really easy to donate. Just go to www.raceforlife.org/doll and you will find my own personal sponsorship page.

Thanks very much in advance and I promise I will run all the way!

Ali x

Back To Work

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

The sun was shining for Lucky Soul’s rooftop gig at the last.fm offices, and with the help of some mulled wine and mince pies, it all went pretty well. New bass player Russell fitted in as if he’d been with us all his life, and managed to keep his gloves off long enough to play three songs: Ain’t Never Been Cool, Lips Are Unhappy and Get Outta Town!. We even managed to stop Andrew from making a reference to The Beatles and their rooftop gig.

Apparently Channel 4 were filming it all as part of last.fm’s xmaschartattack campaign, so keep an eye out for LS on TV.

As for the other acts in the campaign, I liked what I heard of Broadcast 2000 – like an East London Jeff Buckley with a ramshackle rhythm section and glockenspiel. Definitely worth investigating them further. Neon Plastix couldn’t make it, though.

Ali, Ivor, and I have all gone back to work, leaving the others to pack up the gear and finish off the mulled wine.

Fingers crossed for the result…

Malcolm
