“It’s christmaaaaaaaas”, as Noddy Holder so wisely informs us, and so it’s time for an early stocking-filler…
Lucky Soul’s label, Ruffa Lane, have announced the release of a freebie, online giveaway, ‘Ruffa Around the Christmas Tree’. The EP features two original, gorgeously wintry tracks alongside two classic covers (encompassing the label’s four artists). This is an eclectic and utterly idiosyncratic selection of seasonal material: where else would you find Lucky Soul’s sweepingly brilliant take on Mud’s ‘Lonely This Christmas’ alongside a rave-o-clock take on Wham (courtesy of super-Swede Montt Mardie)? – ‘Lonely This Christmas’ already catching the attention of NME’s Daily Downloads. In other label news, Lucky Soul have emerged fresh from a Berlin video shoot for new single, ‘White Russian Doll’ (http://soundcloud.com/ruffa-lane/lucky-soul-white-russian-doll-1). Following a ram-packed end of year show in London, and some prime-time BBC Radio 2 play, ‘WRD’ will have a limited release on January 11th. The much-anticipated sophmore album, ‘A Coming of Age’, will follow in March.
